Cross Country Skiing Tours

crosscountry2

Cross-country skiing is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Imagine groomed trails stretching as far as the eye can see. Fir trees, their needles bent under the weight of last night’s snow, line the path. The sky is electric blue. The sun plays hide-and-seek with your shadow. The only sounds are the rhythmic swish of your skis, the pounding of your heart, and the occasional rustling of wildlife – snowshoe hare perhaps – conducting its business nearby. With most areas of Newfoundland and Labrador receiving more than 300 centimetres of snowfall annually it’s no wonder Nordic skiing is so popular. Day or night, winter or spring, choose from any number of venues – groomed trails, pristine wilderness, or backcountry adventure. Whether you’re at the novice or intermediate level there’s a trail for you. In Western Newfoundland, the Whaleback Nordic Ski Club in Stephenville hosted the 2005 Canadian Masters Cross Country Skiing Championships. Pasadena Nature Ski Park and Blow-Me-Down Ski Club in Corner Brook offer an exceptional Cross Country experience. Blow Me Down Ski Club hosted the 1999 Canada Games skiing and biathlon events.
