Main River Route 420, 421
This could be a whale of a trip! White Bay South, Hampden and Beaches are situated at the head of White Bay where it’s possible to see humpbacks and icebergs. Hike to the top of a mountain behind Pollard’s Point for a panoramic view of the harbour, or take a stroll along the beach at Giles Cove. Sop’s Island, another resettled community, is just a short trip out the bay by chartered boat. The “lower end” reveals recovered artifacts of ancient Indians. At Open Head a sea cave is accessible at high tide on a calm day. Jackson’s Arm is one of the oldest recorded settlements in White Bay. Hike to the eastern point of the harbour to enjoy an excellent view.
