The Old Man in the Mountain watches every vehicle that makes the 50-kilometre drive from Corner Brook to Deer Lake. Legend has it that Spanish pirates buried treasure on Shellbird Island, and that a weatherbeaten old man is guarding the riches. Just outside the city, a rest area provides a terrific vantage point for finding out. Look carefully. Can you spot a face in the rock formation?
