St. Anthony
In 1900, Dr. Wilfred Grenfell chose St. Anthony as the site for a hospital to serve northern Newfoundland. He eventually moved the headquarters of the International Grenfell Association there. Grenfell Historic Properties celebrates the life of the famed medical missionary who came to area to provide medical care to the desperately poor fishermen of the Labrador coast. He later moved to St. Anthony to provide care in northern Newfoundland and Labrador. Dr. Grenfell’s life is the subject of an interpretation centre at St. Anthony. Also located in the town is Dock House Museum, which has been restored to resemble the dock house built in 1929.
