Barachois Brook
This community has a museum that focuses on the history of nearby Sandy Point. In the mid-19th century, Sandy Point was a thriving town, but the low-lying land eroded and the slender peninsula on which the community was built became an island that was abandoned in the late 1960s. Local efforts are underway to establish a heritage and wildlife conservation area to protect the nesting area of the endangered piping plover and European black-headed gull.
