Francois
If you enjoy the great outdoors you’ll love this town, pronounced “Franceway” by many local residents. Accessible by boat or by helicopter, Francois has its own landing pad. Built on the cliffs of a rocky fjord, one of the province’s few remaining stationed lighthouses can be seen when entering the harbour. The Friar, a 680-foot rock projection, provides a bird’s-eye view of the town and nearby Chaleur Bay; there’s a magnificent waterfall at Harbour Ruin, and, for the advanced climber, the cliffs of Devil’s Bay are said to offer the best climbing east of Yosemite.
